Master Plan Programming Underway at Wildwood Golf Club
Date Posted: 10/25/2007
Wildwood Golf Club, located in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, has retained Schlegel Golf Course
Design to provide Master Planning services to their vibrant club.
Originally built in 1929, the course was designed by Emil Loeffler, long time
superintendent and professional at Oakmont Country Club. Early in its
history, the Club hosted the Dapper Dan Golf Tournament which attracted the top
professionals in the game including Walter Hagen and Gene Sarazen. While
the facility has been reworked by other architects in the past, the Club has
charged us to insure that the design efforts focus on reestablishing the
original character of the design, while bringing the course in line with the
modern game and maintenance practices.
Initial phases of construction will focus on bunker construction, tee
expansion, drainage installation, and tree management. For more
information on the Club please visit http://www.wildwoodgolfclub.org/.
